He is Still God

Lately, I have been feeling a sense of heaviness over all that is happening in our nation and world. I am saddened by the babies whose lives are cut short before they take a single breath of air. I am grieved by the amount of evil that is being invited into our borders. I am troubled by the human trafficking that is purposely destroying the lives of young people all across our world. I am confused by those who are so completely oblivious to (or don’t care about) all that is happening in our schools, our medical systems and our governments.

It’s challenging not to fall into the swirls of fear, anger and pride that are hovering over. It’s tempting to think that God has given up on us or that He has somehow lost His grip on things. But this is not the God we serve. Read this passage in Colossians 1:13-17:

13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Do we truly believe that God created all things in heaven and on earth? Do we really believe that He is before all things and in Him all things consist? Does it really feel like we have been delivered from the power of darkness? If we answered no to any of these questions, then we don’t fully understand what Christ did for us on the cross or the authority that we could be walking in. God is not surprised by anything that is happening. He isn’t up in heaven pacing around and wondering when people are going to start being good girls and boys. He is still on the throne, and He has never stopped working.

Final Thoughts…

Lord, we repent for agreeing with a spirit of heaviness that is flooding our world. We renounce spirits of fear, anger and pride from all facets of our lives. We speak hope, joy unspeakable and peace into every part of our body, soul and spirit. We know that what is going on grieves you more than it grieves us, but we refuse to fall into the trap of believing that you are anything less than God. Show us the part we can play in bringing healing, hope and restoration to all your wayward sons and daughters. Use us for Your glory. We want to be a part of bringing light to the darkness, truth to the lies.
