One of the greatest challenges before Christians is choosing which eyes to look through. Our flesh wants us to be weighed down by what we see with our physical eyes. Everything from the weather, our bank account, our bodies and our relationships can all become visual traps dragging us into places of worry, bitterness, anger or pride. If our only focus is the things we see with our physical eyes our outlook will be anything but hopeful. This is the goal of the powers of darkness.
As Christians we are blessed with a unique opportunity to see things differently. When we become Christians, our veil is removed (2 Corinthians 3:16). Instead of having to only see things as they are, we are given the gift of being able to see with eyes of faith. We can see our bodies healed. We can see our relationships restored. We can see our needs met. We can know without a doubt that Jesus died on the cross for every difficulty and imperfection we have faced and will ever face.
In Luke 17:20-21 Jesus said:
20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
A lot of people are looking for signs that God is working or indications that He is coming back to save us. As this scripture says, the Kingdom of God is already here, and it lives in those of us who have opened our heart’s door to Him. The same Kingdom that exists in heaven dwells within our hearts. Our biggest challenge isn’t trying to find it; it’s believing that it’s already ours.
Final Thoughts…
Before all of us lies an opportunity to take part in a great exchange. All of the things that weigh us down, tire us out and challenge our emotions have already been nailed to the cross. We can exchange these cares for hope, peace, and joy when we choose to see these things as God does. He sees the beginning and the end of everything, and He knows that it will all become good. And we don’t have to wait until heaven to see the good. His Kingdom is already here and waiting for us to activate it.
