What We Believe

bibleThe Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”  2 Timothy 3:16

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the daystar arise in your hearts:  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time but the will of man; but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:19-21

God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, distinct, but One.

“And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him.”  Matthew 3:16-17

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.”  2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ is God the Son, the only mediator between God and Man.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”  John 1:1, 14

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
1 Timothy 2:5

The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ was God’s plan for our redemption from sin.

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures.”  1 Corinthians 15:3b-4

Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ.

“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.”  Ephesians 2:8-10

“That if thou shalt confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation, for the Scripture says, whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed.”  Romans 10:9-11

doveThe Holy Spirit indwells all believers.

“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees Him not, neither knows Him, but you know Him; for He dwells with you and shall be in you.”  John 14:17

Water baptism is a declaration of our unity in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“And what are you waiting for?  Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name.”  Acts 22:16

“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  We are therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.  If we have been united with Him in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.”  Romans 6:3-5

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is for all believers.

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is to you, and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”  Act 2:38-39

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”  Matthew 3:11

The Church is the body of Christ with Christ as the Head.

“For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.”  1 Corinthians 12:12

“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church; and He is the savior of the body.”  Ephesians 5:23

Jesus Christ has given the Church authority over all the power of Satan and the kingdom of darkness.

“…I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.  However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”  Luke 10:19-20

“…And these signs will accompany those who believe:  In My name, they will drive out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up snakes with their hands, and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”  Mark 16:17-18

Christ literally will come again and establish His rule on Earth.

“And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, ‘You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven?  This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven.'”  Acts1:10-11

“Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection:  on such the second death has not power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.”  Revelation 20:6

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. Revelation 1:7
